1920-е годы представляют собой необычный период в истории России, так называемый период бурного строительства “нового мира” и соответственно имеют важное значение в развитии литературы, в том числе и в детской. Детская литература обладает воспитательной и педагогической функциями, и поэтому ей уделяли большое внимание в новый исторический период. Размышление над новой детской литературе началось уже в Серебряный век (с 1892 по 1917 г.), когда были оживлены «разнообразные течения – реализм, символизм, акмеизм, футуризм, новокрестьянское течение и пр». И в это время немало внимания писателей из этих направлений было выделено детской литературе. Тем временем, «с самого начала XX века, получившего название «века ребенка» шли активные поиски модели «новой» детской литературы». Выдающиеся писатели, как И.А. Бунин, К.Д. Бальмонт, Н.С. Гумилев, А.И. Куприн, А.Н. Толстой, написали много классические произведения для детей в начале XX века.
