About the Journal
The international scientific journal “Issues of ecology” originates from a series of Soviet almanacs and irregular publications dating back to 1988, which began to be issued after the proclamation of the policy of “glasnost”, making it possible to implement research projects aimed at environmental development, public awareness, and the application of best global practices in local studies.
During the period 2011–2023, the journal was published under the title “Science.Thought: electronic periodical journal” (ISSN 2224-0152).
From 2009 to 2020, the journal served as an information partner of various scientific conferences under the general title “Ecology rebuilt (ReEco)”.
Since 2023, the journal has consolidated all previously published editions, almanacs, yearbooks, and conference proceedings under a single title. By decision of the founder, the name “Issues of ecology” was adopted.
At present, sustainable development is of paramount importance as a key to the future use and management of limited global resources. It recognizes the need to create opportunities for development while maintaining a balance between these opportunities and the environment. As stated by the UN Brundtland Commission in 1987, sustainable development should meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This constitutes the main focus of the journal and is addressed in documents on environmental sustainability, economic sustainability, and/or social and cultural sustainability.
The journal covers all thematic areas related to sustainable development. These may be considered empirically, through case studies, as reviews, commentaries, reports, or comprehensive studies in special issues of the journal. The journal is interdisciplinary and is aimed at examining current and significant issues, as well as at stimulating, and at times engaging in, scientific debate.
Priority areas of the journal include subject fields related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Our global readership includes:
1) researchers, consultants, scholars, and engineers;
2) industry representatives, enterprise managers, and policy-makers;
3) governmental (central and local) and non-governmental organizations.
The journal is indexed in RSCI, RCSCI, ROAD, DataCite, CrossRef, ASCI, and Google Scholar.
