About the Journal
The International Scientific Journal "Voprosy Ekologii" originates from a series of Soviet almanacs and irregular publications since 1988, which began to be published after the announcement of the "glasnost" policy, enabling the implementation of research projects aimed at environmental development, informing citizens, and using the best global practices in local studies.
From 2011 to 2023, the journal was published under the title "Nauka. Mysl: electronic periodical journal" (ISSN 2224-0152).
From 2009 to 2020, the journal was an information partner of various scientific conferences under the general title "Ecology rebuilt (ReEco)."
Starting in 2023, the journal has unified all previously published editions, almanacs, yearbooks, and conference collections under a common title. By the decision of the founder, the name "Voprosy Ekologii" was adopted.
Currently, sustainable development is of paramount importance as the key to the future use and management of the world's limited resources. It recognizes the need to create opportunities for development while maintaining a balance between these opportunities and the environment. As stated by the UN Brundtland Commission in 1987, "Sustainable development should meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." This is the main direction of the journal and is considered in the documents on environmental sustainability, economic sustainability, and/or social and cultural sustainability.
The journal covers all thematic areas related to sustainable development. These can be considered empirically, through case studies, as reviews, comments, reports, or comprehensive studies in special issues of the journal. The journal is interdisciplinary and aims to study current and important issues, as well as to stimulate and sometimes engage in scientific debates.
Priority in the journal is given to subject areas related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
